Taube Museum Receives Grants
For General Operating and Education
The Taube Museum
of Art recently received funding from the North Dakota Council on
the Arts, North Dakota Community Foundation and Target Stores
totaling $11,575 for the 2010/2011 fiscal year.
The Taube
Museum of Art was among 58 recipients of Institutional Support
funding from the North Dakota Council on the Arts. The Institutional
Support program is designed to benefit artists, arts organizations,
and the general public. The program provides general support for
qualifying arts and cultural organizations that have proven they
have strong management and leadership, quality artistic programming
and services, and are an important part of the arts infrastructure
in their communities. A total of $437,323 was awarded during this
grant round.
The North
Dakota Council on the Arts is the state agency responsible for the
support and development of the arts throughout North Dakota, and is
funded by the state legislature and the National Endowment for the
Arts.
The North
Dakota Community Foundation grant will support the 2010 Artfest
children’s activities which will be held on October 16 at the Minot
City Auditorium. This year’s theme artist will include Mexican
artist Frida Kahlo. The children will participate in an art supply
scavenger hunt and create a Mexican themed collage.
Target Stores
grant supports the Paint a Purple Cow program at the Taube Museum of
Art. This program is designed for day care and home school children
to come and visit the museum. Each month the children view the
current show and participate in a related hands-on art activity.
Also, as part of this program, our staff visits the 21st Century
Learning Center Program located in seven elementary schools. Our
presenters introduce the children to the works of a famous artist
and participate in a related art project.
“The Taube is
thrilled to receive this funding, especially within such a close
timeframe,” said Executive Director Nancy F. Walter, it shows
continued interest and support from state, local, and community
levels.”
Thanks go out
to all who help the Taube’s mission “to enrich lives through the
visual arts!”
